Scope, Rules, Regulations and Restrictions

ZIWA maintains this website, ziwa.com. This website serves primarily to inform ZIWA members about the association and its activities. It also presents ZIWA to interested members and to the outside public in general.

The website is the responsibility of the ZIWA board, which in turn assigns responsibility as it sees fit to a board member. The board member may, but does not have to assume the role of web-master/web-editor. She may appoint a webmaster/ web-editor and possibly other members of a ZIWA web-team. The ZIWA web-team, together with the ZIWA News-team, defines the overall approach and strategy of ZIWA's two news publications.

Standard Content on ziwa.com

The ZIWA website, ziwa.com, contains information about ZIWA, its monthly meetings, its interest groups, its special projects and events such as charity fundraising events, a calendar of planned ZIWA events and activities, links to external web sites, external news (typically from a news-feed), and articles by ZIWA reporter(s).
Content may include photos, which will appear without names and must have the approval of the photographed person or persons.
In general, full names of ZIWA members will not be published. However: ziwa.com will list the current ZIWA board members by full name; additional information about a board member, such as photo or background, will appear only if approved explicitly by the board member. Full names of members may appear in special articles, where appropriate and with explicit permission of the person named.
The pages on ziwa.com will include a ZIWA copyright claim, except where the content belongs to someone else and is being re-published according to standard copyright regulations. For example, a news-feed appearing on ziwa.com does not belong to ZIWA and will not include a ZIWA copyright.

Supplementary Content on ziwa.com, as submitted by ZIWA members

An Interest Group Chairlady may submit supplementary interest group information, in the form of text and/or photos. This can be
- Semi-permanent information (which changes perhaps once per annum) which conveys a better idea of the group. This will typically be one 'page' or extended screen in length, and will be linked to from the Interest group listing.
- Short-lived information, such as a write-up or photos about a recent event; this will be published as general information, e.g. under ZIWA Recent Events.
Individual members may submit articles and/or photos to ziwa.com for inclusion on ziwa.com. These will be published at ZIWA's discretion.

Member-owned Web Sites and Blogs requesting a link from ZIWA.com

An Interest Group may maintain its own site dedicated to the activities of the interest group. The Interest Group is entitled to have linkage from ziwa.com, with the proviso that all conditions pertaining to such an external site are met (see Table: ZIWA website rules and regulations).
A ZIWA member may maintain her own site with content of general interest to ZIWA members. The member may request a link from ziwa.com. Assuming that all conditions pertaining to such an external site are met (see Table: ZIWA website rules and regulations) a link will appear under 'Useful Links'. ZIWA reserves the right to reject such requests.
Where ziwa.com provides such a link, the target site is expected to provide a return link to ziwa.com.

Regulations and restrictions

Content published on ziwa.com must be
- Original: ZIWA will assume ownership of the digital copy and will add its copyright claim
- OR
- Give credit and linkage to any original sources, e.g. quoted or paraphrased text, photos. The submitter must have explicit, or where appropriate implicit, permission from the owner, or the owner's internet site. Short quotes are subject to standard publication rules; they do not require explicit permission except where stated by the owner.
Original material submitted to ziwa.com becomes property of ZIWA unless otherwise agreed. This means that authors of photos, articles, etc. who submit their works to ziwa.com forfeit all control of the content which is published on ziwa.com. ZIWA can reproduce, sell, and in general dispose of this digital content as it sees fit.
ZIWA reserves the right to reject or edit submissions. Where submissions are substantially edited by ZIWA, the edited submissions will be returned to the original author for final authorization.
